Refresher Proficiency in Survival Craft & Rescue Boats (R-PSCRB) is a mandatory course conducted in accordance with the requirements of the Directorate General of Shipping, aligned with International Maritime Organization standards and the STCW Convention.

 

The course is designed for seafarers to refresh and update their knowledge and practical skills in operating survival craft and rescue boats, as required under STCW revalidation norms.

 

Training includes theoretical revision and practical drills, focusing on launching and recovery of lifeboats and rescue boats, handling of survival craft, and use of life-saving appliances.

 

Special emphasis is placed on emergency procedures, leadership in survival situations, distress signaling, and rescue operations, ensuring continued competence and readiness.

 

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must hold a valid  PSCRB (Proficiency in Survival Craft & Rescue Boats) certificate.
  • Valid passport.
  • Must be medically fit as per Directorate General of Shipping approved doctor. 

Competency Outcome – Refresher PSCRB Course (R-PSCRB)

  • Demonstrate continued ability to launch and recover survival craft and rescue boats safely.
  • Operate and take charge of lifeboats, liferafts, and rescue boats in emergency situations.
  • Apply updated survival techniques and emergency procedures as per latest STCW requirements.
  • Use life-saving appliances and equipment effectively and correctly.
  • Organize and manage survivors after abandoning ship, ensuring safety and discipline.
  • Perform distress signaling, communication, and rescue operations efficiently.
  • Maintain readiness and proper use of lifeboat engines and equipment.
  • Respond effectively to emergency situations and adverse sea conditions.
  • Ensure compliance with standards of Directorate General of Shipping and STCW Convention.
