After successfully completing the
Second Mate Foundation Course, candidates will possess the mathematical,
scientific, technical, and computer knowledge required to undertake the Second
Mate (F.G.) competency programme and progress towards performing the duties of
an Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch (OICNW) in accordance with the
applicable STCW requirements incorporated into the revised DGS curriculum.
On completion of the Second Mate Foundation Course, candidates will acquire the essential mathematical, scientific, technical, and computer knowledge required for the Second Mate (F.G.) competency programme. The course prepares candidates for further competency development in navigation and shipboard operations.It provides a strong foundation for progressing towards the Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch (OICNW) role.
