Refresher Medical First Aid (R-MFA) is a mandatory course
conducted in accordance with the requirements of the Directorate General of
Shipping, aligned with International Maritime Organization standards and the STCW
Convention.
The course is designed to refresh and update the knowledge and practical
skills of seafarers in providing medical first aid onboard ships, as required
under STCW revalidation norms.
Training includes theoretical revision and practical drills, focusing on CPR,
use of oxygen resuscitation equipment, control of bleeding, treatment of burns,
fractures, shock, and other medical emergencies.
Special emphasis is placed on patient assessment, emergency response,
infection control, and use of ship’s medical stores, along with effective
communication with shore-based medical services.
