Personal Safety & Social Responsibilities (PSSR):

PSSR is mandatory course conducted as per Directorate General of Shipping in compliance with International Maritime Organization and STCW Convention. It provides essential knowledge of safe working practices, accident prevention, and personal discipline onboard ships.

The course develops an understanding of shipboard organization, duties, and emergency procedures while emphasizing effective communication, teamwork, and human relationships in a multicultural environment. It also covers pollution prevention, environmental protection, and safety regulations. Overall, it prepares candidates to contribute to a safe, secure, and efficient shipboard environment.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Valid passport
  • Valid Indian CDC and other mandatory STCW Basic  Certificates
  • Must be medically fit as per DGS-approved doctor

 

Course Competency – PSSR

  • Apply safe working practices and contribute to accident prevention onboard ships.
  • Demonstrate awareness of shipboard organization, duties, and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain effective communication and teamwork in a multicultural crew environment.
  • Follow personal discipline, rights, and responsibilities as a seafarer.
  • Contribute to pollution prevention and environmental protection measures.
  • Comply with safety regulations and safe operational practices onboard.
  • Support creation of a safe, secure, and efficient working environment as per Directorate General of Shipping and STCW Convention standards.
